Everybody wants to be free. Nobody agrees on what that means.

For some people, freedom means no one telling them what to do. For others, it means finally being able to stop doing the thing they can't stop doing. Ask ten people what freedom looks like, and you'll get ten different answers, and most of them will be at least a little bit wrong.

Here's the problem. The world's version of freedom and the Bible's version of freedom aren't just different. They're opposites.

The world says freedom means no restraints. Do what you want. Answer to no one. But if you've ever actually tried living that way, you know it doesn't feel like freedom for long. It feels like a leash you can't see, pulling you back to the same behavior, the same substance, the same broken pattern, over and over.

That's because what looks like freedom is often just a different kind of slavery.

The Bible has a lot to say about this, and none of it lines up with what our culture assumes. True freedom, in Scripture, was never about the absence of a master. It's about who your master is.

This month, we're spending four weeks digging into what the Bible actually means when it talks about freedom. We'll look at the difference between freedom and license, and why grace was never meant to be a loophole. We'll sit with Jesus's words about slavery to sin and what it actually takes to be set free. We'll talk honestly about the price that was paid to buy that freedom, and why it changes how we live in our bodies. And we'll close by asking what it looks like to actually walk in freedom day to day, not just believe in it theoretically.
