The Father's Heart Series - Intro

And if you're fighting addiction, pornography, or rage you can't seem to quit, Father's Day can feel like evidence. Like proof that something in the foundation was cracked before you even started.

Father's Day is complicated.

For a lot of people it's backyard barbecues and Old Spice. For a lot of others it's an empty chair and a pile of things that never got said.

And if you're fighting addiction, pornography, or rage you can't seem to quit, Father's Day can feel like evidence. Like proof that something in the foundation was cracked before you even started.

But the brokenness in your story doesn't get the last word.

There is a Father who has never walked away. Who has never been too drunk to show up, too busy, too ashamed. A Father whose love for you has nothing to do with your track record, your clean streak, or your church attendance.

He's the Father in Luke 15 who sees his son while he's still a long way off. And runs.

That's what this series is about.

Over the next five posts we're going to sit with what the Bible calls the Father's heart. We'll start with the prodigal son story, not as a familiar Sunday school illustration, but as a portrait of how God actually feels about the person who's hit rock bottom. We'll talk honestly about what happens when your earthly father failed you. We'll look at what it means for the church to raise up spiritual fathers and mothers. And we'll end by looking at generational sin, the way destruction travels down family lines, and what the Gospel does about it.

It's a series for people who are struggling. And for people who love them.

📖 Next week: We open Luke 15 and look at what it means to be a prodigal, and why the Father's response changes everything.
